Tenochtitlan was arranged slightly different than other Aztec cities due to the fact it was built on a island. Tenochtitlan was an urban island and had housed up to 200 000 inhabitants was also one of the biggest cities at the time of the Spanish conquest. The other two cities with similar amounts of people were Paris and Constantinople at this time. When the conquistadors encountered this city they were in awe.
