The twin stair pyramid is one type of pyramid that the Aztec had built, and is very similar to some of the pyramids built by earlier Mesoamerican races. Even so, there were some differences.
In a twin stair pyramid, the summit has two temples and a double staircase leading up to it. Each temple would be dedicated to a specific god, such as the god Tlaloc and the god Huizilopochti. This type of pyramid is usually very steep, to the point where one would not see the top of the temple from the bottom unless the climbed the pyramid all the way until their head is above the platform. This was because a steep pyramid signified that the gods were so much above the people that they cannot even come close to the gods if they were not at the top of the pyramid.
